Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ)

In conjunction with The Logistics and Supply Chain Management Society, The Turning Point Business School has achieved an industry’s first! We have been appointed as the ‘Program Manager’, the first Approved Training Organisation in Logistics Training with the Singapore Workforce Development Agency to conduct the ‘Workforce Skills Qualification’ or WSQ in Logistics.

By achieving the ‘Program Manager’ status, it allows the school to train individuals; both employed and unemployed, with minimal charges. On top of this, Training Allowance will also be disbursed to individuals or companies upon successful completion of their modules.

Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) in Logistics

Awarded by Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA)

What is WSQ?

It is a robust and integrated continuing education and training system programme developed by WDA. Designed to build industry competencies, it is founded on best international practices and validated by industries and employers.

WSQ caters for adults and it complements the pre-employment training delivered by national schools and post-secondary education institutions like vocational institutes, polytechnics and universities.

The programme is structured based on training modules specific to the Logistics industry. The skills can be accumulated at individual’s own pace and offers a correspondingly wide range of certifications and qualifications from certificate to graduate diploma.

WSQ has become a viable avenue for workers who missed out on formal education to get better jobs and pursue skills upgrading. This is possible as WSQ recognises past training, work experience and current credentials in addition to academic achievements.

The Workforce Skills Qualification aims to equip our workforce with the necessary employability, industry and occupational skills to remain competitive and add value to the organisation.

Foundation of WSQ

The WSQ is governed by four underlying principles:

i. Authority to give each employee the assurance that the skills they get are recognised by employers and validated by the industry;
ii. Accessibility to ensure that every employee can access the skills upgrading pathways and benefit from structured training. Instead of academic qualifications for entry to WSQ training, courses are generally open entry. The skills and qualifications framework recognises existing skills, work experiences and credentials. Training is offered in bite-sized modules as well as on-the-job to widen opportunities for upgrading;
iii. Relevance to both employees and businesses, so that it meets their needs. The training that employees get must be useful and improve their opportunities for finding and keeping jobs, and advancing their careers.
iv. Progression for employees as they upgrade their skills for career progression and achieve excellence in their respective fields.
